In Decatur, green cleaning is a genuine purchasing criterion rather than a line on a website, and shoppers around the Square notice what a store smells like at ten in the morning. That raises a specific challenge for anyone deciding who the best retail cleaners Decatur has to offer. Almost every company will say they clean green. Very few can hand you a product list. This guide is about turning a claim into something checkable, which takes about two questions and saves you from finding out the hard way in month three.

Turning a green claim into a document

Ask for the actual product list, by name, for your store. Then ask which of those products are used in the restrooms, on the floors and on the glass. A company running a real program answers without hesitating.

EPA Safer Choice maintains a public list of products screened for safer ingredients, which gives you a neutral way to check the names you were given instead of taking a brochure at its word.

Then ask about method, because product is only half of it. Microfiber, dilution control, color coding and correct dwell time all reduce chemical use, and none of them show up in a marketing sentence.

Watch out for the swap that is not a swap. Using a milder product at a stronger dilution or twice as often is not a gentler program, it is the same chemistry with better packaging.

Old buildings complicate the honest answer

Aged terrazzo and old grout around Oakhurst and the Square hold soil in ways new flooring does not. Sometimes a gentler product needs more agitation rather than more chemical, which is a labor decision, not a purchasing one.

That is a conversation worth having out loud. A contractor who explains the trade honestly is more useful than one who promises a mild product will fix a floor that needs mechanical work.

Ask us for our product list and our method for your specific surfaces. We would rather show you the plan for the grout in your entry than talk about philosophy, and you can compare that page to anyone else.

Most commercial cleaning gets sold on price per square foot, then quietly handed to whoever was cheapest and free that night. That’s why quality slides after month two — the scope was never real to begin with. We build yours from an actual walkthrough of your actual building, on your actual hours. Then we send the same crew who learned it. Boring? Completely. It’s also the only thing that makes month five look like month one.

Where a store gets judged in a walkable city

Foot traffic from the Emory ring, Agnes Scott and everything moving along Ponce means your entry sees weather all day. Matting, frequency and a plan for wet days matter more than they would in a parking-deck store.

Ask each bidder what they would do at your door in a week of rain. It is a small question and the answers vary enormously, which is exactly what makes it useful.
